The Bristol
Drugs Project works to reduce the harm that drug and alcohol
problems cause to individuals, families and communities. It
provides counselling, advice and information to drug misusers,
their relatives and friends, addressing a range of issues
including health, housing, employment and legal rights.
Shazia Ahmed, from Canons House in Bristol,
volunteers at the Bristol Drugs
Project and gave up over 100 hours of her time in 2008, which
was matched by £500 from the Matched Giving Scheme.
Volunteers are a vital resource for
us. Shazia acts as a mentor who commits time each week to
support a child whose parent has a drug problem which
can be a very isolating place to be. This kind of work is
priceless.
